Back to School Again and Twinkle Toes

Hello everyone!  I've been away on vacation and now I'm back to school as our new school year started this week, so my life will become even more hectic (again!).  Both my kiddos had milestone first days of school and I welcomed a new set of 8th graders.  But with all that good news, I'm also dealing with an upsetting situation as my house was burglarized this week and they took my Macbook and my iPad, among other things, and it's really hindered my life in lots of ways.  With all this in mind, my posting here on my blog has and will surely slow down.  But I'm going to try to keep posting, my goal is to try 3 times a week, but we'll see how things go!  Thank you to all who have left comments on my previous posts, they make me smile and let me know that there are people out there reading this thing! LOL!

So today I have a quick post of some back to school little crafts I made for my sister and friend.  I saw this idea in a magazine and I wanted to try it.  So I found some cute graphics to go along with each person's theme/personality and I created a header on Word.  I then made tons of copies, cut them and created personalized notepads.  I used chipboard for the back and I covered it with patterned paper and some embellishments.  Look how cute they came out...

I also had to personalize and scrap my planner for this year...

Finally, I took my daughter to her first ever dance class as a trial.  She didn't have any dance clothes so I decided to make her a shirt and bow to wear for her first class.  Here is what I created...

Of course she had to also have a bow to match, so I made this one...

OMG, I just realized that I lost those pictures, too, with the rest of my over 700 pictures from my summer.  How sad, I can't even scrap them.  I'm so mad ><

Anyways, my birthday is this weekend and I hope things turn around for me (if the hurricane heading in our direction doesn't ruin it)!  Here's hoping for sunny days ahead!

I hope I'm able to scrap this weekend and have something to share, so be sure to check back!

Hello Cutie Layout using Hello Kitty Font

Hello everyone!  I won't be around all of next week but I wanted to share one more layout before I go.  There was one more layout at Sassy Lil' Sketches that I wanted to try and I had two great pictures of Sofi laying around my scrap table so tonight when a couple friends came over to scrapbook, I decided to get the layout done.  I went into a really old DCWV Spring Stack and it had a great paper that worked great with the photos.  I especially love how bright and cheery the colors were.  Now in the sketch it had the title somewhere else, but I don't deal well with blank spaces so I decided to fill it up and put the title there instead.  I used the Hello Kitty Font cartridge to create the title using shadow, silhouette and both types of font on there.  I also alternated the colors in the title.  The Hello Kitty embellishments are from another old chipboard pack I had that I hadn't used and what better time than this!  I've also been dying to try the paper rosette technique and I did on this layout (at the bottom where I put the Hello Kitty).  I love how it all came together.  Take a look...

Here is the sketch I followed...

Some close ups...

Title is of course scrapped, stickled and popped! LOL!

The cutest part about this is that when my daughter saw the page, she ran and found the Hello Kitty and came riding her little car with the Hello Kitty in the front and said "Look Mama, like the picture!".  She is just the cutest!

I hope you like the layout!

Drama Queen Layout

Hello everyone!  As promised, I have another layout to share with some more funny photos.  First I have to tell you the back story.   Since my daughter was a baby, I knew that she was going to be a drama queen.  I've never seen tears come out so quickly on anyone!  Now, the funny part is, she would really only cry when she heard the word "No!".  She would fall and be ok, but hearing the word "No!" would have her in tears in an instant.  On one of those occasions, I had my camera handy and I captured the whole sequence (which all happened in about 10 seconds) of her playing, hearing the word "no" and the resulting tears and drama because I knew I had to scrapbook it!  So here is this layout titled "The Makings of a Drama Queen" with the whole sequence...Enjoy!

I used a lot of different fonts to create the title:
Opposites Attract, Alphalicious, Don Juan and Gypsy Wanderings

The photo mat was created using a Martha Steward all around the page punch.  I added a bling crown to her head and more "drama"...

Here's the 2 page layout together...

I hope you like the layout!  Thanks for stopping by!

Cruise Layout

Hello everyone!  I hope you enjoyed my "Aquaholics" layout as Guest Designer for Whimsical Wednesday!  If you didn't get a chance to see it, just keep scrolling after this post or click on "Older posts" and you should come across it!  I know I promised some more funny pictures on today's post, but you will have to wait till tomorrow because I just finished creating another layout that I wanted to enter into two challenges, one over at Cricut 360 for their "Transportation Challenge" and another at Frosted Designs for their "Circle" challenge.  In thinking about what to create, I decided to make the opening page for my upcoming cruise this coming week.  I always buy the cruise photo that you take right at the beginning and use it on my opening page, so now the layout is ready and waiting for the picture. I can't wait!  Here is the layout...

I used a bunch of different cartridges.  I used Summer Vacation for the "Cruise" and the actual ship.  I colored in the top to look like Carnival Cruise line ship which I will be going on.  The title is from my current favorite - Baby Steps and the anchor is from Going Places.  I love the way it turned out!  Off to enter them in the challenge!  Come back tomorrow for another layout!!

Guest Designer for Whimsical Wednesdays - "Aquaholics"

Hello all, I am so excited and thrilled to be a Guest Designer at Whimsical Wednesday this week for their challenge to create a layout that has to do with "humor".  I love all the different challenges that they have each week.  They are so much fun and inspirational.  I am honored to be joining this amazing Design Team this week!

Now for this week's challenge, "Sense of Humor", it could be interpreted by incorporating funny pictures or cuts/images or by words that have to do with humor.  I decided to be inspired by some very funny pictures of my husband and friend at his birthday party last year.  You see, after lots of drinks, they decided to have a jumping contest into the pool.  Let me remind you, these are grown men and they thought they were Spiderman or Karate Kid... the pictures say it all!  Every time I see them, I crack up.  So I thought they would be perfect for this challenge.

I decided to look into my sketch folder and found one that worked with these four photos.  The next thing was to come up with a great title for these hilarious photos.  This took a while, I didn't seem to come up with the right one, but then I remembered a name of a boat I saw recently that I loved and I knew I needed to use on a layout and it just worked perfectly for these pictures.  So with my title, AQUAHOLICS, the layout came together.  Now, I used these chipboard letters I've had forever and as soon as I got to the last letter, I realized that I didn't have an "s" - I hate when that happens!!!  So I had to rig it and I did so by manipulating an & sign.  I added a couple embellishments and voila!  Here's the layout...

So be sure to join in on the fun at Whimsical Wednesday and enter the challenge!
I hope you've enjoyed my layout (and my funny photos!).  Thanks for stopping by!
Be sure to leave a comment and let me know you were here!  I hope you come back tomorrow for yet another layout you won't want to miss (with some other funny photos)!

Snip Snip Layout and Fun News

I'm almost done with that album!  Only 2 more layouts to go!  Here is another layout for my daughter's album, this one of my daughter's first haircut.  I had a ton of pictures so 8 made the cut for this layout.  To add a little visual interest and to go along with the theme, I decided to cut the patterned paper into uneven strips on the left side of the page.  The scissors are from Happily Ever After (disney princesses cartridge) and the title is from All Mixed Up (which I haven't used in a while, I must admit).  On the bottom right of the layout, I scaled down and made a copy of the actual certificate that the haircut place gave her and added the little bag of her hair that they had put on the certificate.  I put the "before" shot on the left and the "after" shot on the right.  So here it is...

Here's a close up of the title...

I'm excited because I will be tomorrow's guest designer on Whimsical Wednesdays!  So in about 12 hours I will be debuting my layout for their Whimsical Wednesday Challenge, but you have to check back then to see it!
Thanks for stopping by!

Look Whoo's Walking Layout

Hello everyone!  As I continue to try to finish my daughter's first year, volume 2 scrapbook, here's another layout of an important milestone - learning to walk!  I had this adorable paper with the cutest owls ever and I wanted to use it so I made sure my title brought this all together.  The title is from Lyrical Letters and A Child's Year.  The footprints are from New Arrival.  I love the fun colors and how it all came together.  Take a look...

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope to finish a layout tonight to share tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

The Toddler Princess Layout

Hello everyone!  A quick post today...As I'm finishing my daughter's first year, volume 2, album I decided to take this layout that I had started a while back and use it in her next scrapbook as the opening page.  However, it needed more so I found another picture of her at 2 and then decided to create a title for the page, which is from Alphalicious.  You might not be able to tell from the photo, but I handwrote "the" in cursive in black above "Toddler Years" which is shadowed and welded.  I love that her next album has a title page and how cute this turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!  More to come tomorrow so be sure to come back!
