So be sure to join in and share the love, too!
Now onto my project...

I'm a die-hard scrapbooker so of course, I created a layout.  In thinking of what I was going to make, I wanted to make something really cute and whimsical, so I went to a newer cartridge that I haven't really explored and found the love bugs - that was it, I was in LOVE!  So I started designing on my gypsy (don't worry, I'll be showing this to you, too!).  I had recently bought these great Fancy Pants papers from A Cherry on Top and thought that it would go perfect with this layout I was creating.  My son helped me cut and piece my cute love bugs and title - I love to have my little helper around!  I added ribbon to the mats (tip:  I adhere the ribbon to the back of my mats so I can slip the picture right in under the ribbon later).  Of course, everything is popped (this is ScrapSticklePop, lol!).  So take a look...
Close up of the left page
 Here is the right page

My title, which is shadowed and I added a little bow and googlie eyes...

One of my bugs with some hearts cut from my always go to George cartridge

Cute kissing love bugs.  I welded the antennas together and popped the heart.  I also did a lot of stitching on all my little embellishments.

So now here's how it all began.  I used my gypsy to design my layout - its not just for cutting, you know!  To plan my photo mats, I use George and make them the size I want my mats to be (under the Basic tab, if you click the link button under the height/width, it will turn to white- its usually yellow - and then you can make your mat 4x6 or any size you wish without one part increasing in proportion to the other).

Now that I had a basic idea of what I wanted my layout to be, I separated each cut by colors.  I love being able to make all my cuts at once, so I used my 12x24 mat to make that happen.  It's easy to copy/paste on the gypsy, but many people do not know how to do this, so let me share how to do this:
On layer 1, click the item you want to copy (it will be highlighted in blue).  Without clicking on anything else, click on layer 2 and click on the double square in the advanced tab.  Voila, it will appear.  Now you can move it wherever you want on the mat.  So as you can see below, I put everything I wanted to cut together by color:  in black on the top left, in red on the top right, in one shade of pink on the  bottom left and the other shade of pink on the bottom right.
In the picture below is what it looked like as I loaded it into my Cricut.
Another tip:  when you are using putting your papers on the mat (especially when using a 12x12 mat), be sure that you line up the arrow on your mat just the way it looks on your gypsy so you put the colors in the right places.

And in one load and unload of my mat, all the cuts I need for my page are done!

So before you continue "crawling" along to the next blog, I have a little BLOG CANDY for you today!  It's just a couple little things that I love - flowers and bling!  One of the items is a super cute felt flower clip that you can use on your keys, purse, scrapbook bag, etc.  In keeping with the theme, to be eligible to win, become a follower (if you're not already) and leave a comment telling me the 3 Cricut cartridges that you most love!

So now it's your turn! Let's see your Share the Love projects!  Make sure to include a Cricut cut somewhere on your project and the word Love!

Next stop...the fantabulous Michelle at Scrappin' with my Bug. Go see her fun creation... And when you're done, make sure to link up your project to FCCB's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post to be entered into the contest!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you come back soon!
Happy Crawling!

Buzz Lightyear Invitations - Gypsy Tutorial

I'm so excited to share my son's invitations!  It was my own creation and I love how they turned out.  On this post today, I'm not only going to share the actual invitation, but how I made it.  Consider it a little tutorial and I hope you enjoy it.

I love my gypsy!  I don't know what I ever did without one.  It really allows me to make anything!!  My son's 5th birthday is tomorrow and next weekend we are going to have his birthday party.  I always go all out for my kid's invitations so this was going to be no different.  The theme of course is Buzz Lightyear, my son's absolute favorite character of all time.  So in keeping with the theme, I decided to make the invitation a spaceship.  But I didn't really have a cut on any of my cartridges that would work for an invitation (I need to put the wording somewhere!).  Enter my gypsy...

There's so many things that I love about my gypsy, from it's ability to weld (must say, my #1 feature!) to the fact that I have all my cartridges in one place, able to use one or multiple all with a touch of a button and the list could go on and on.  But I really love that I can make my own creations like I did with this, just by using shapes.  I am constantly using my George cartridge (just click on my "George" label and you will see just how often I use it!), not so much for the font, but for the shapes.  With the shapes, you can create just about anything.  And so I created my spaceship invitation.  I found the wording online and I created my own Buzz stickers to pop on the front.  Put it all together and here it is...

The inside includes "Mission" to describe the party, "Space Launch" for the time, "Sector"for the place and "RSVP Star Command" with the contact information.  And of course, "To Infinity and Beyond".

So here is how I made it:

I used a rounded square for the base.  To make the top of the rocket was tricky.  I needed a flat top, angled and flat sides, but that shape didn't really exist.  So I created it by stretching an octagon to fit my rounded square.  For the rocket blasters on the side, I used two rounded triangles and then welded it all together.  I then highlighted it and copied it next to it so I could fit two invitations on each paper.

In order to make the invitation flip open, I once again copied the rocket and flipped the image.  I brought it close to each other, overlapped it slightly so that it would all be welded together.

I wanted to create a window effect and I tried circles, but it didn't give it the look I wanted.  So then I found this shape (also on george) that worked perfectly...

I knew that I wanted the side rocket blasters to be silver on the actual invitation, so I copied a bunch in a row to be able to cut them out of silver paper and layer on top of the rocket invitation (which I'd be cutting in white).

Now I want to share a tip that I don't think most people know, you can rename your layers so that you can better remember what each one is.  This is a great idea if you're separating by colors to cut, just name it "brown" or "blue" to help you remember that when you actually cut.  All you do is hold down the layer and the screen below will appear.  Click on rename and it will open a keyboard where you can type whatever you like.  For me, I labeled each layer according to the part of the invitation it was - spaceship, window, rocket sides, etc.

I hope you like my invitation and I hope you enjoyed the little tutorial.  If you found it useful, please be sure to leave a comment.  I constantly think I'm talking to myself out there, so it's nice to know that people are actually reading my posts.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
Hope you come back soon!

80s - Cricut Style

My niece is an RA for her dorm and every semester she needs to decorate her residents doors and the bulletin boards on her floor.  This semester, she was given an 80s theme.  So we started brainstorming what she could create to use for her doors (she has 45 residents, so it's a lot of preparation).  But since I have my gypsy, I knew we would be able to figure it out.

First we came up with a boombox.  I created it from shapes on the George cartridge (I use this cartridge sooooo much!).  I welded a rectangle and mini rectangles to create the handle for it.  I then cut two circles out of black paper to make the speakers.  It came out cute, but it just didn't have that "it" factor.  Then we came up with Pac-Man.  So this time I made a large circle to fit a whole sheet of paper and then I turned a triangle on it's side and didn't weld the two, because I wanted to create the mouth.  A small black circle and voila!  But the even cuter part were the ghosts!!!  Now, I really had no idea how I was going to make this, but I was confident that I'd find a way to figure it out.  After lots of searching, I found the perfect shape on my new Simply Charmed cartridge.  I stretched it to create the top part and body of the ghost.  But for the bottom, I needed sort of a pinked edge. So I welded three triangles together and lined them up at the bottom of the shape I had stretched (without welding) and they came out just like the ghosts!  My niece then cut them from all the colors (just like in the game!).

So I wanted to share the pictures because they came out so cute.  I would have photographed my gypsy to show you how I made the file, but it is super late and I haven't done it yet, so you'll have to excuse me on that one.  If anyone really wants to see it, leave me a comment and I'll try to add it later.  Take a look at the finished product...

Hope you come back soon!

Christmas Cheer Layout and Blog Candy Winner!

Only 2 more days, everybody...Anyone else feeling the clock ticking?  Well I am!  I've been trying to wrap and get things done, but it's a little difficult with my kiddos around.  I had a little time today thanks to my husband, but not enough to really put a dent into my to do list.  But I did create something that I love, but can't show on the blog yet because it's a secret till Christmas.  I promise to post afterwards.

Today, I wanted to show one of my Christmas layouts.  It mainly uses the cartridge that it is titled for, Christmas Cheer.  But I wanted to create gingerbread looking cookies on the right and I don't have that new cartridge, but I have plenty others that I opted for including Stretch Your Imagination for the gingerbread and George for the star.  There are lots of close ups, just scroll...

I also wanted to announce the winner of the Blog Candy from last week's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl.  A BIG THANK YOU to all of you who stopped by my blog, commented and even became followers!  I feel honored.  So without further ado, the winner is Nicolle, who said...

Gift Bags Galore!

Fantabulous Cricut's challenge #39 this week is Gifts galore.  I am sharing a project using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More!  These are super easy to make and are great for small gifts like jewelry, candy treats, gift cards, etc.  Be sure to add some ribbon, maybe some bling or buttons and other details to really make your gift bags stand out!  I have also found that cutting them at either 5 1/2" or 6" work best.  I added small piece of velcro to the little purse bag to keep it sealed.  I also creates the christmas trees from circles in different sizes that I folded (pleats) and attached to a dowel.

Be sure to check out Fantabulous Cricut and enter in on this week's challenge!

"Grateful for..." - FCCB DT Challenge #37 Layout

Hello everyone!  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, this week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is what are you "Thankful for...".  I wanted to create a layout that showcased what I'm most thankful for which are my children, my husband and my family!  So they are the focus of the photos for my layout.  I especially love the picture of my kiddos (which I had forgotten I took and came across it and loved it, especially for this layout).  I had found this great scalloped paper and I used some scraps from my fall layouts that had "give thanks" which I thought would go perfect.  I knew I wanted a graphic title, so I started searching in my gypsy and I found this great premade phrase in the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge.  I matched it with a 4 from A Child's Year cartridge and of course, used george for the dot, dot, dot.  I still had an open space in my layout so I decided to freehand a tree and use it for my journaling.  I literally cut a scrap of brown to create the trunk and punched 3 circles.  Inside the "tree" I journaled the things I'm grateful for in mixed fonts with my own handwriting.  I also cut a couple leaves to place at the bottom of the tree.  I added some doodles to the title and some faux stiching around the two smaller photos.  I love my white pen, it brings that little added touch, don't you think?

I really love the way this layout came together - it made the wall!  I will put in on the wall of my scrap room this week.  Here are the photos of the layout and all the details...

Be sure to stop by Fantabulous Cricut and join in on the challenge this week!
Also, tonight is the kick off party at My Paper Tree House...hope to see you there - and bring your gold - it's a gold party, too!

Have a happy Monday everybody!
Thanks for stopping by, be sure to check back again tomorrow for another layout!

To Infinity and Beyond...

We recently went to Kennedy Space Center which my son absolutely loved!!  I bought this picture of him as an astronaut because I thought it was beautiful.  So I created this page to hang on the wall of his room.  I used Opposites Attract to create the title, which I welded on my gypsy.  I used George for the stars in different sizes and the dot, dot, dot.  I added stickles and popped the stars.  Here is the layout with some close-up shots so you can see the details...

Tomorrow is a new challenge at Fantabulous Cricut, so check back then for my DT project for the week!  Tomorrow is also the Class Kickoff party at Paper Tree House Studio and I have two great classes that I will be showcasing.  If you're in the Miami area, be sure to stop by - it begins at 6pm.
I have a lot to share this week so be sure to come back often!
Have a great rest of your weekend!
Thanks for stopping by...
